PLR, MRR and RR defined

Buying products online for resale is a quick and inexpensive way to get a product to market. There are many types of online products and knowing the difference between PLR, MRR and RR – the 3 main classifications in most PLR websites, gives you better knowledge about what you are buying. It also lets you know how you can sell each of the product types so you can better know how to market your products.

In this article, we will explain PLR, MRR and RR so that you have a better understanding of the items that you are getting from a PLR website.

For explanation build up purposes, we shall start from RR.

RR – Resell Rights

Give product away for free : No.

Resale rights products, are products that you purchase that you have the right to resell to others to make a profit.

Resell to end User : Yes.

Editing : No.

Authorship Claim : No.

Copyright claim : No.

Sell Resell Rights to the product? : Yes.

Sell Master Resell Rights to the product? : Of course not.

Resell rights products can be sold by you to someone who wants to use the product for themselves.

They cannot resell the products themselves. You do not have the right to offer any one else the ability to sell that product.

That brings us to the next type of product, MRR or Master Resell Rights products.

MRR – Master Resell Rights

Give product away for free : No.

Resell to end User : Yes.

Editing : No.

Authorship Claim : No.

Copyright claim : No.

Sell Resell Rights to the product? : Yes.

Sell Master Resell Rights to the product? : No.

Next up, PLR, the best option for a product you want to resell. A product labeled PLR or private label rights, can literally be treated as if you created it yourself.

PLR – Private Label Rights

Give product away for free : Yes (important)

Resell to end User : Yes.

Editing : Yes, can add comments, rewrite parts, even rewrite the whole thing.

Authorship Claim : Yes (important)

Copyright claim : No, unless you edit the whole product significantly.

Sell Resell Rights to the product? : Yes.

Sell Master Resell Rights to the product? : Yes

PLRs are also known as the lazy man’s way to riches. Just by inserting your name, you can claim authorship. Changing it significantly such that it becomes a new product (this includes changing formats, e.g. you can convert an ebook into an audio product by reading it into a recorder), you can claim copyright to the newly changed product.

Thus, it is better if you buy into the memberships of a PLR website if it contains many PLRs and not MRRs or RRs (the latter two are good but takes a lot of time if you want to create something of your own out of what is already there – that is the whole point of getting into a PLR website right?). Furthermore, you must do a search on the PLRs in the PLR websites you go to, related to the niches or topics that you are focusing on. For example, if a certain PLR website contains 20 PLRs related to cooking and only 3 PLRs related to internet marketing (like affiliate marketing, etc.), which is the niche you are targeting,  then it is not really worth subscribing to that particular PLR website.

On an ending note, always make sure you understand exactly what you are buying. What we have provided is just a general guideline to the differences between these types of products. Product creators may have their own definition of what they are selling. Make sure you read exactly how the product creator will let you use the product before you carry out any action on it. It will usually be in a license.txt file. This step will prevent you from wasting your time, or even getting into disputes in the end.
